Levels recorded every 6 hours to alert for replacements
Automated route planned for replacements
Significant costs and time savings
By installing Captis Multi devices, a leading gas supplier replaced manual checks with real-time pressure monitoring and automated route planning - cutting costs and improving customer satisfaction.
The Need
One of Australia’s primary industrial compressed gas suppliers delivers over 100,000 kilograms of LPG each month to commercial customers across Brisbane. Previously, gas replacement relied on either:
-
Customers calling when their gas was low or empty for same-day replacement, or
-
A fixed delivery schedule that involved manual checks – regardless of actual usage.
While functional, this model was inefficient, labour-intensive, and often inconvenient for both the supplier and customer. The supplier needed a smarter, automated way to manage replenishment.
The Solution
The gas supplier rolled out 200 Captis Multi devices across its network. Thanks to the device’s flexibility, it could be installed directly on the cylinder pallet or on the customer side—depending on requirements.
Each device was connected to an analog pressure sensor, configured to log readings every 6 hours and trigger alerts when levels approached empty. GPS functionality also tracked the exact location of each unit, enabling the creation of automated daily routes prioritised by lowest tank levels and proximity.
Instead of relying on fixed schedules or customer-initiated calls, the supplier could now proactively manage inventory and deliveries in real-time. This shift resulted in major operational efficiencies, faster response times, and a notable boost in customer satisfaction.
The new automated process has also become a standout selling point for the gas supplier when engaging with new commercial customers.
